Choosing Your Stripe Product Sync Mode

The Product catalogue sync mode decides which direction your products travel between ClickFunnels and Stripe: ClickFunnels to Stripe, Stripe to ClickFunnels, or both. If you already sell with Stripe and have a catalogue of products and prices there, this setting is what lets you bring them into ClickFunnels instead of rebuilding them by hand. In this article, you will learn how to choose a sync mode, what each mode does to your catalogue, and how to sync your imports to Stripe test mode.

Choosing a Sync Mode

The sync mode is set per Stripe installation. If your workspace has more than one Stripe account connected, each one has its own mode.

When You Connect a Stripe Account

After you finish connecting a Stripe account, ClickFunnels shows the Product catalogue sync mode window before you do anything else:

1. Read the prompt: “Choose which products you can sell with Stripe in your ClickFunnels workspace.”

2. Select one of the three options (described below).

3. Click Save.

If you close the window without choosing, the mode stays Not Set and no products are sent to Stripe until you pick one.

Changing It Later

1. In the left-hand menu, select Stripe » Installations.

2. Click the Stripe account you want to configure.

3. Find the Product catalogue sync mode row in the details card.

4. Click the pencil ✏️ icon to reopen the same window.

5. Choose a mode and click Save.

What Each Mode Does

Each option shows the direction visually, with a ClickFunnels chip and a Stripe chip on either side of an arrow.

Mode	Direction	What happens
Send all your ClickFunnels products to Stripe.	ClickFunnels → Stripe	ClickFunnels is the source of truth. Your ClickFunnels products, variants, and prices are created and kept up to date in Stripe. This is how ClickFunnels has always worked.
Choose which products from your Stripe account to import into ClickFunnels.	Stripe → ClickFunnels	Stripe is the source of truth. Your ClickFunnels products are not pushed up to Stripe. Instead, you pick the Stripe products and prices you want to bring across.
Products get imported in both directions.	ClickFunnels ↔ Stripe	Both of the above. Each product stays owned by wherever it came from — imported items are managed in Stripe, ClickFunnels-created items are pushed up to Stripe.

Note:

Your ClickFunnels discounts are synced to Stripe in every mode, including Stripe → ClickFunnels. Stripe needs the coupon to exist on its side for a discount code to apply at checkout, so discounts are never gated by this setting.

Selecting a Mode That Includes ClickFunnels → Stripe

When you switch into ClickFunnels → Stripe or ClickFunnels ↔ Stripe, ClickFunnels sends your existing product catalogue up to Stripe in the background — you do not have to re-save each product to get it there. Switching back and forth does not create duplicates in Stripe.

Selecting Stripe → ClickFunnels

Once Stripe is a source of truth for an installation, two things appear:

• An Import Products button on the installation page, and an Imported Products entry under Stripe in the left-hand menu.

• A Manage Imported Products link next to the sync mode row.

Important:

While an installation is set to Stripe → ClickFunnels, ClickFunnels-created products are not sent to Stripe. If you sell one of those products through a funnel using this Stripe account, the payment fails with a message telling you to change the sync settings. Use ClickFunnels ↔ Stripe if you need to sell both kinds of product with the same Stripe account.

Sync Imports to Test Mode

Stripe keeps live mode and test mode completely separate: a product that exists in your live Stripe account does not exist in your test account. That means an imported price cannot be used in a ClickFunnels test-mode order unless ClickFunnels also creates a copy of it in Stripe test mode.

The Sync imports to test mode switch does exactly that. It appears in the sync mode window as soon as you select Stripe → ClickFunnels or ClickFunnels ↔ Stripe:

1. Open the sync mode window (from the pencil ✏️ icon on the installation page).

2. Select a mode that includes Stripe → ClickFunnels.

3. Turn on Sync imports to test mode.

4. Click Save.

Anything you imported while the switch was off is backfilled into test mode when you turn it on, so you do not need to re-import.

The installation page shows which state you are in, underneath the sync mode:

• Imports are synced to Stripe test mode

• Imports are not synced to test mode — hovering this shows: “You will not be able to use imported prices in test mode unless you enable ‘Sync imports to test mode’”.

Note:

This only applies to Stripe accounts operating in live mode. If the connected account is itself a Stripe test account, everything you import is already in test mode and the switch does nothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to pick the same sync mode for every Stripe account?

No. The sync mode belongs to the individual Stripe installation, so one workspace can have one account importing from Stripe and another pushing products up to Stripe.

What does "Not Set" mean next to the sync mode?

You connected the account but closed the window without choosing a direction. Nothing is synced in either direction until you pick a mode. Click the pencil ✏️ icon to choose one.

Will switching to Stripe → ClickFunnels remove products I already sent to Stripe?

No. Products already in Stripe stay there. The setting only controls what happens from that point on — ClickFunnels simply stops pushing new products and price changes up.

Can I switch modes after I have imported products?

Yes. Products you already imported stay imported and keep working. Switching to ClickFunnels ↔ Stripe additionally starts pushing your ClickFunnels-created products up to Stripe.

Can I sell an imported Stripe subscription as a payment plan?

Yes. Stripe only has one-time and recurring prices, so a recurring price imports as a ClickFunnels subscription — but you can convert an imported subscription price into a payment plan afterwards, as long as it has not been sold yet. Nothing is pushed back to Stripe. Refer to Converting an Imported Subscription Into a Payment Plan.

I turned on "Sync imports to test mode" after importing. Do I need to import again?

No. Turning it on backfills test-mode copies of everything you have already imported for that installation.
